The New Magazine
The New Magazine is an on campus Club at the University of Delaware. Each semester the clubs creates and publishes a magazine. I was a memeber of the New magazines Design team for 5 out of my 6 semesters while I was at UD. Each semester we did something a little different, and each semester I learned so much, about garment construction and about working in a team.
My first semester the magazine was titled Twisted. The shoot we did was an Alice in Wonderland themed shoot, and I helped make the Alice dress.
For the Alice dress I made the Crinoline that was under the dress, along with helping with the construction of the dress itself.
My second semester I worked with another student and we created the graffiti Gown. This gown was made of fabric that was painted on and spray painted by the entire team. We took that fabric and made a bodice and skirt. This was one of the many times that we reused my crinoline from the Alice dress to add volume to the dress without adding a ton of work to our selves.
My third semester on the team sadly with my work schedule I was unable to really help work on a shoot, so I did make sure to attend the Debut of the magazine to help sell merch. I brought some stuff I had made myself to sell here but I took some of my product to help support the team.
My fourth semester our shoot was called Inherit, and all of our looks were about pollution. The look I worked on was water pollution. I made the skirt out of crocheted plastic. Yes the skirt was actually made of plastic.
I am actively in my last semester at UD and my last semester of being on the design team. I will update here after the shoot but untill then I hope the wait makes you shiver with Antici . . . . . . Pation!!!!
